Video assignment

The video assignment was a nice change of pace for the class. My group was assigned to make a tour video of the student center for incoming freshman. We made the mistake of taking one long 20 minute clip... the editing process would have been much easier if we had taking a bunch of small clips. But, in the end, we worked it out - thanks to some tech savy group members.

I am happy with how the video turned out and, although it won't ever be used as a tour video, I think it would be very informative for an incoming freshmen.

Webquest and Powerpoint

I enjoyed learning about webquests because they are something I had never heard of before. I'm sure I did something similar to them in high school, but the indepth analysis we did in class gave me a whole new outlook and frame of mind what creating assignments for my future students. I will most definitely implement webquests in my future classroom.
I chose to do my webquest on the beat poets of the 1950s and 1960s and, although they participuated in some illegal behavior, I feel that it is an important subject for students to be aware of. And it's something a little more contemporary for them to read.

The powerpoint wasn't really anything new to me, however, I did learn some new tricks when creating them. I often feel like powerpoints can be a very boring addition to a lecture, but if used correctly they can be an amazing visiual aid. I will take the things I learned in EDMT 330 and apply them to the powerpoints I will create in future classrooms.

Our most recent assignment(s), the revised paragraphs and the newsletter were more difficult than I expected. Nonetheless, I learned some more things that Microsoft word can do. It also made me realize how much I hate Word 2007. I just don't get it. The layout is confusions and about 98% different than Word 2003. I wish they would just go back to that platform.

Either way, it was sweet learning about the column break in Word. For some reason the word on my computer does not do that. I cannot recall any teachers in my high school making newsletter but I'm sure a time will come where I will have to make one.

Also, revising and adding comments to the paragraph was cool. It reminded me a lot of Google Docs (which is an AWESOME way to peer review papers). Now that I know Microsoft word can do similar actions I will definitely use it more as I continue down my long and winding road of academia.

The Rubric Assignment

The rubric assignment was so awesome because we were able to use and learn Rubistar. What an awesome tool! It was very helpful and easy to use and I am sure that I will implement it in my future classrooms. This class is nice because I am learning about so many different tools for teachers that are available online.

EDMT 330

This blog will now focus on EDMT 330.

So far I am enjoying this class. In fact, I am enjoying all of my classes this semester.
Right now I am in my second phase of pre-student teaching at Ypsilanti high school.
Questions:
1. This assignment was easy because I already had created this blog for a previous class.
2. There was nothing difficult about this assignment.
3. I learned nothing new through this assignment. However, I expect to learn much more through future assignments.
4. I will definitely try to incorporate blogs in my future classrooms.
5. I would like to learn more about the dangers of blogs.
6. I can learn more about this through research!

YEAHHH!!!!!
